I wonder where these visual ideas come from. Though the overall look of this feels very different from the rest of the series, I can see that the leaves and their negative spaces turned positive and the circles are elements from many other works. It’s all about transforming the visual field into an emotional one, translating what I see in the plant forms into what I’m thinking and feeling about plants and our relationship to them. This is composed by and with collaged papers, oil and wax paints, and graphite over an oil monotype on Rives BFK paper. It’s 29 x 21 inches on a braced panel.
