This trace monotype on Asian paper has just been mounted to a 36 by 36 inch braced panel. It will be the base of another work. This method of working opens up avenues of exploration while overcoming the “what to do!” anxiety that goes with a blank surface. I’ve let the tones of whatever was underneath show through a bit.
I actually can’t remember what was underneath. I frequently recycle panels, papers, prints, and leftovers. I actually have to take work that I like and think may be finished out of the studio to save it.
