Staghorn is the common name for a fern, Platycerium, with the most beautiful leaf shapes and contours. The fertile fronds resemble antlers and carry the spores, while the basal fronds are kidney-shaped and protect the roots. Staghorn is epiphytic, meaning it doesn’t need to be in soil, but gets its nutrients from the air and rainwater.
