A Collage Workshop

A workshop on constructing monotype collage on panels with encaustic medium and oil monotypes.

MATERIALS:
plywood panel or cradled birch panels, (gesso optional but recommended)
encaustic medium, 9:2 or 8;1 ratio wax to damar recommended)
dry oil monotypes, (ink or acrylic monotypes optional) Note: encaustic monotypes can be used but are more difficult
acrylic gel medium

OPTIONAL MATERIALS:
R&F Pigment Sticks or oil paint for optional toning (other brands of oil sticks are not recommended, oil pastels are not recommended)
Pan Pastels for toning
ArtGraf disks for drawing
Stabilo Woody pencils for drawing
other mark-makers of your choice

TOOLS:
burnisher – an etching burnisher is best, spoon is good, bone burnisher is good
exacto knife
heat gun
encaustic medium brush
acrylic gel medium brush
single edge razor blade or scrapers
pottery tools for incising
