Intro to Encaustic Painting

Description

A workshop introducing encaustic paints and techniques. We will cover all the basics so that you will understand how and, more importantly why, you might incorporate encaustic paints into your artistic practice. So get basic training here, including using the materials safely and efficiently. In-person workshop includes paints, tools, and some materials.. If studying online, you will need:

• an electric griddle or R&F encaustic palette
• a surface thermometer
• a heat gun
• encaustic paints
• encaustic medium
• palette cups to hold your melted paints and medium
• rigid panels to paint on
• encaustic gesso or paper ground for your panel
• masking tape

Tools:

• natural bristle brushes
• pottery or dental tools for carving, scraping, incising
• single edged razor blades for scraping
